Ramblin' Ricky Tate is a Country Blues & Folk singer from Birmingham, Alabama. Ricky is a founding member of Jug Band Hall of Fame inductees the Steel City Jug Slammers and over the last decade has traveled far and wide singing from street corners to theater and every dive bar in between. Ricky sings ruckus filled bluegrass and lonesome blues with an over all dark sound.

"My music came from a place of need. I was always obsessed with music and that lead me to touring and traveling around some at an early age as a drummer. When I started roaming the country with my friends I started playing washboard cause it was easy to carry and busk with. That opened the door to old jug band blues and bluegrass tunes folks were passing around on the busking circuit.

When the band wasn't up to busking I had no income so I learned how to play guitar to feed myself and used the couple of chords I knew to make up my own words and thus began my street performance career..

We started Steel City Jug Slammers in 2012 and in 2015 we got called up to be on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion. That was like the flood gate being opened for us."
